回顾西南联合大学数学系

摘要。西南联合大学数学系在中国近代数学史上占有重要地位。通过对该系培养的数学家徐利治的访谈，提供一份关于西南联合大学数学系的史料。从他对西南联合大学数学系招考、课程、教材及参考书、数学讨论班、教师与教学风格、学生管理与研究生培养等方面的回忆，以及他对西南联合大学数学系的亲身感悟，可以了解该系教育活动的一些细节，并可以看出这个战时数学教育机构的某些特色。

西南联合大学（以下简称“联大”）数学系是抗战时期由北京大学数学系、清华大学数学系，以及南开大学数学系组建的高等数学教育机构。在战时教学、科研，以及生活条件异常艰难的情况下，这个新建的数学系取得了同期其他高等数学教育机构与之难以比拟的成绩，较为出色地完成了战时国立高等数学教育机构的使命，并成为那一时期中国数学发展的一个重要表征。目前，学术界对联大数学系的课程与教学、教师与学生的概况，已经进行了介绍与研究。[1-4]但联大数学系教育工作的细节及特色，尚值得进一步挖掘和探讨。徐利治教授的访谈录，对此提供了一份史料。
